When millions go without health care insurance in the US -- How is that not rationing health care?

Unless providers manage to find a way to be educated for free, receive all supplies and equipment free and have someone paying all of their basic living expenses so they can provide services for free, health care rationing will occur. It doesn't matter if it's a private HMO or PPO, lack of coverage or a government plan covering people. Rationing will occur. There simply isn't enough money in any of the systems to provide the highest level of care available through technology to every patient. Rationing occurs in nations with universal coverage, just in a different manner. People are either outright denied procedures or treatments are driven by cost as opposed to effectiveness. In other words, people may not receive the most effective treatment, but rather the least expensive. Nobody operating under any system in the year 2009 can deny rationing.

What can we realistically do to creat real change to reduce cruelty to animals raised for human consumption?

Understand that I absolutely do not believe that an animals life has near the importance or relavance than that of a human beings life. On the other hand, the deplorable conditions and the unjust manner and cruelty with which some animals are treated is morally wrong. However, I am of the belief that for optimal health, ones diet should include some animal products, which for me includes only milk and eggs. That being said, even though these animals are not slaughtered to obtain the milk or eggs, I know that many of them are treated poorly and live miserable lives, and will ultimatly be slaughtered. If someone could share with me practical ways of reducing this suffering I would like to hear them. For me, becoming a vegan is not an option. I don't believe in the end it will make a significant change to the situation. A practical suggestion is one that will be endorsed by non veggies, as they are the consumers of these products and make up most of the population.

My rabbit wont let me pick her up?

Rabbits hate to be picked up so this is normal but it is terrible that she has not had any exercise for one month. You need to just pick her up even if she does not want you to so she can have some floor time. You could try to put a box or something there and guide her in it so you can pick her up in that. As she is new you should get her checked out at the vets just to make sure everything is ok. If she does not have enough exercise her spine will end up deformed due to being stuck in a cage.

I hate to say this, but late is late no matter how you look at it. Whether it is 1 minute, 5 minutes, or an hour. Late is late. While it is not 100% your fault, you do have the responsibility to be on time. It is also a huge distraction to the teacher for you to be late. It interrupts whatever is going on in cl, then things need to be directed back on track. Since you are a senior in high school, I can sympathize with not wanting to ride the bus. I refused all through high school, but I was rarely late. But, since you are a senior, you might want to look at not having a 1st period cl, that way, your mom can drop your brother off, then you, and no matter how late you are running, you'll be on time for your next cl. Since it is an art cl, which is usually not a requirement (Its been a few years since I was in high school), you might be able to drop it. And in the extra time in the morning you can work on whatever homework you have as well.

Quitting a job?

I am currently a nanny/sitter, but got a new job as a preschool teacher. The new job pays alot better, and is only blocks from my house. The problem is, I have to have alot of shots and tests before I can start, but couldn't get a dr's appointment until the Friday before I start the new job on Monday. My question is: How do I give or not give a 2 week notice to my current employer? My fear is I will put in my notice, then some test will go wrong (not sure what, there are TB tests, chicken pox tests, etc.), and I'll have already put in my notice and will be left with no job at all. How should I deal with this? I don't really feel bad about not giving her a 2 week notice as she really takes advantage of me and treats me rudely, but I feel like a notice is only fair. Critique my poem please?

I like the message of it but personally the rhyme does not appeal to me and the last four lines about reflecting on yourself and finding what you can do kind of doesn't appeal to me either it feels like a limit is being drawn. Well, if you really want to get some good ones look for an audiologist in your area and have some made from custom molds. This is the best solution by far. I personally get the little spongy ones and they've always worked fine for me, they just need to be replaced pretty often as they get quite nasty over time.

If your not eating breakfast that could be it, because that's what i needed to do. or you could drink coffee it helps for migraines, i don't know about headaches. or if you recently drank an energy drink or coffee over the past few days, and then quit, you could be having a "caffeine withdrawal" headache.

Hello. I have it, and the good news is that if you get it under control, you can go long periods of time with no symptoms. Mine comes and goes. Sometimes it's worse then others, but it's not like i'm in pain every day. In the beginning it was horrible, but i'm doing much better now. I just can't get use to having to pee all the time. You need to talk to your doctor about your concerns for developing a tolerance to your medication, or if you feel your current medication isn't working. Sometimes the dose needs to be adjusted. A lot of people don't feel screwed over by the medications they take for depression. A lot of them feel like they got their life back. If you have anger issues, don't blame it on the Paxil. You need some psychological therapy to help you deal with that. If you're smoking weed, it's because that's your personal choice. And sometimes it's not a good idea to go back to our original selves. Especially if our original self is mean and angry.

So, I don't know if I'm pregnant or not. I've always had irregular periods, but this time was more normal so I'm hoping that it will become more regular. I noticed on the 2nd that I was ovulating, by the stuff in my panties. I had that saturday and sunday and the following wednesday. My lease is about to expire. Should I buy out the lease?

call me crazy but I don't know anyone who rents a car in Phuket. Most visitors only remain in PHUKET TOWN long enough to jump on a beach-bound songthaew, which run regularly throughout the day from Thanon Ranong in the town centre to all the main beaches You are not going to be using your rented car all that much and for $700 I can think of a lot better things to do with the money. If you just use a taxi you will save big bucks and have a tour guide thrown in. But... even that is unnecessary. The local boys will be happy to take you anywhere you want to go for minimium $$$ Don't rent till you get there and check it out. I think that you will find that you don't need the car.

Daughters first play date :) AHH!?

so my 3 1/2 year old daughter is having a friend come over for just 3 hours for a playdate on Friday. I was an overweight person?

I was initially 86kg and my BMI was 30.8(obese).After going on a very strict diet of low carbs and aerobic exercises . i managed to bring down my BMI from 30.8 to 24.4, in about 5 months time.However , even though i lost all that weight , i still dont look muscular .So i carried on dieting strictly by not touching any fast food ,and snacks(chocs, ice cream ,chips and any non home-cooked food) and only consuming fruits , vegetables and only home cooked food.The main issue i have is that i feel very tired when i do my aerobic exercises when i am on a diet (Is it because im cutting down too much calories?).I dont get any muscles, i feel really frustrated.I feel so tired after doing the exercise .Must i eat more and hit the gym to get a muscled , buff body? and i am currently 170cm and weigh 68kg, how long will it take for me to buff up if i go to the gym ? Coughing and cold like syndromes at night were the worse. He didnt feel as if it was extreme, just bothersome...with this information, please go to the doctor. Have your heart checked. Hypertension, enlarged heart,kidney,fatty liver, arrythmia etc. I dont wont one family in this world, to lose a beautiful loved one so early in life, over something that CAN easily be diagnosed and controlled. My Mom use to have this problem with my younger brother who is 7 yrs. younger than I am, 8 yrs. younger than my sister. He was one PICKY eater to begin with. Mom had to make special food just to make sure he would eat something-anything! Find out what they DO like. IF it's hot dogs, there are hot dogs in the freezer, take a couple out & make them & they'll no doubt eat them. He also liked French toast. Mom use to make French toast for him & use as much of the egg on the toast so he was at least getting "nutrients" in him & not just bread. He ate ALL that up, so she at least got food in him. You could do the same thing with them. WHATEVER they like the most, do your best to make it for them & you'll at least get them to eat & you can honestly tell your mom they ate! Try it, I think it just may work for you too. Good luck.*

i don't know of anything you can spray to fix a leak.if you are serious about repairing the leak, i would advise getting a plastic tarp that you can hold in place with bricks or some other heavy object to prevent it blowing away while you secure it with 1x2 lumber until either you fix the leak or call in someone to do it for you.. now what to do about the leak, are you going to replace the roof or just stop the leak? if your going to repair the leak remember the leak doesn't have to come from right above where you see it coming into the house you may have to investigate to find where it is coming from

How to deal with a child who is lying?

I have a 7 year old son, he has been known to lie off and on. If it's going to get him in trouble, he will lie to try to get out of it. Well today I got a call from his teacher, he is misbehaving at school. I guess he threw a pencil across the room, almost hit another child and told her he didn't do it. She said she had seen him do it. I have told him lying is unacceptable. It is always best to tell the truth, even if it does get in trouble because it will only make it worse if you lie. I told him nobody likes a liar, and no one trusts a liar. I am a very honest person who will admit when I do something wrong, so I think I'm a pretty good role model. How should I handle this? I know I have to have a talk with him after school but I don't know what more I can say or do. He was supposed to have baseball practice tonight, we won't be going to that now. Ball Python Question? - Heating?

First off, we got our first python Sunday, and he ate Monday night. Well I got brave enough to try and handle him last night and hes the sweetest thing, he wasn't at all aggressive. Well I know heat helps them in digestion. And we got him a Exo-Terra Heat Wave Rainforest Small undertank mat heater. Long, I know hehe. Horse help?

ok, I have alot of questions, but first I don't own a horse, and I probably wont for another few years, maybe even longer, but I am just wondering: can you keep a horse in pasture all year round with shelter? If you keep a horse out in pasture don't you feed it hay as well? and is Timothy hay good, if its horse quality? and is 10 dollars a bale a good price? and how much does a normal horse eat, if you ride it about everyother day, not heavy riding just riding on trails, not much running if any? I used to know a couple that had a horse, and they kept it out to pasture year round with shelter is had gr, and always had hay in the shelter, but that was it, the horse was healthy and very nice, with a nice shiny coat,they only rode it about every other day or so, he had very strong hoofs and never had shoes, it lived to be 26 years old. thanks!

I am African American and I have box braids that I will start taking out tomorrow and finish no later than Saturday. But Imma do it right this time and NOT perm my hair directly after I take them out. My problem of why I havent done this before is because after I wash my hair my new growth is SO thick. How do I keep my skin from peeling in winter?

I have mild acne and I use ProActiv (only the cleanser) daily. My skin is usually healthy and soft, but when cold weather comes around, my skin gets dried out and starts flaking & peeling. I do the same regimen in winter as I do for the rest of the year, but it just doesnt work. My skin usually only peels inbetween my eyebrows where the top of my nose ends. What do you do? It was a Friday, and I was out running errands and thinking about dinner. I called his office and his secretary said that his computer was off, and that she hadn't seen him for a while. When I finally got a hold of him he told me that he was in a meeting with some people at his office. I questioned why he would turn off his computer if he was still at work - he started to act weird, so I got suspicious. I kept bothering him and he finally told me that he left early to hit some at a golf course by the airport. I asked with who? He replied, by myself. Well the thing is that we have a golf course in our backyard. So why would he drive all the way out to the airport to hit by himself, when he could do that 1 minute from home? After much pestering, I got him to admit that he went with some people from work. His lame excuse was that he didn't want to upset me because he had gone golfing the day before. I don't care about the golf, I care about the lie.

Why does my 5 month old always have red pinpoint spots (non raised)?

This may be completely normal but it's been bugging me. My 5 month old DOES have contact allergies. She will often set up swelling and pinpoint spots on her temples/forehead if she rubs her eyes enough or if something gets in it as well as the one or two food allergies she's seemed to have already. however she gets those SAME red pinpoint (non raised) spots after I saline her every night.. if she gets water up her nose in the bath.. after a crying fit...etc. Why is that? is this normal?

Increase gear ration on child's bike?

My 6 years old son has a disease that causes him to have very low muscle m. He wants to ride a bike, but his bike is too hard for him to pedal. It moves freely, but with his weight, it is hard for him to get enough power to move. I'm wondering if increasing the gear ratio would help him, but I don't know if this is possible for a child's bike with a fixed gear. I tried to find a bike with different gears, but it doesn't seem to exist. OMG! I'm going through the same thing.. I had 5 negative urine tests, 1 missed period. then i took a blood test but it was undetermined, so i retook it a couple of days later and i found out today that it's positive, the doctor said it's probably a very early pregnancy but now i have to retake it tomorrow to make sure... it's frustrating not knowing.

Has anyone ever heard of a staff infection that caused reconstructive surgery?

10 days ago i went to my doctor because i had an infection on the tip of my nose, the doctor said i had a staff infection... after several doses of antibiotic injections, and a strong dose(pill form) of antibiotics for 10 days, it is now starting to peel ( the scab). I was so frightened this morning because i could see under the scabbing a little and it looks like there will be a big "crater" from this disaster. I am a vain person and have already contacted a plastic surgeon and have a consultation in two weeks. By then the scab should be gone. I am so terrified, and have been crying all day. how could this happen? I have folowed doctors orders, and have not "picked" at it once! I really need to talk to someone, for reurance. Im expecting the worse, but im hoping for the best. The doctor said i could have possibly gotten the infection from anythign from the tanning beds at the salon or even my own snot. Please help... R.

It's fall, and I've been having problems with these bugs that are invading my house. They're a flying insect that's shaped like a box elder bug, but it's bigger, and when you pick it up to dispose of it, it sprays a foul smelling liquid with a strong vinegary smell. Well where i'm from the gay scene sucks and I don't go to the gay bar cause all the women there look mostly like guys and that's not my type at all. I am pretty picky and I just don't understand why women would date another woman that looks like a guy or be attracted.
