Has anyone ever heard of a staff infection that caused reconstructive surgery?

10 days ago i went to my doctor because i had an infection on the tip of my nose, the doctor said i had a staff infection... after several doses of antibiotic injections, and a strong dose(pill form) of antibiotics for 10 days, it is now starting to peel ( the scab). I was so frightened this morning because i could see under the scabbing a little and it looks like there will be a big "crater" from this disaster. I am a vain person and have already contacted a plastic surgeon and have a consultation in two weeks. By then the scab should be gone. I am so terrified, and have been crying all day. how could this happen? I have folowed doctors orders, and have not "picked" at it once! I really need to talk to someone, for reurance. Im expecting the worse, but im hoping for the best. The doctor said i could have possibly gotten the infection from anythign from the tanning beds at the salon or even my own snot. Please help... R.
